We have plenty of exciting news to share with you this month, read on for recipes, event announcements and much more! News from the World of Bees! The Pollinator-Friendly Lawn ‘Bee Turf’
Developed in BC Bee Turf is a lawn replacement blended from mixed clovers and low-growing wildflowers that was developed by West Coast Seeds in partnership with the City of Richmond, BC. It is intended to replace lawn in urban settings in order to reduce maintenance costs and increase habitat and forage for pollinators. This blend requires less water, less fertilizer, and less mowing than conventional lawn grasses. It has better resistance to weeds and is unattractive to chafer beetles. Monthly mowing will keep it trim and tidy: Mow to 5″ tall for a natural pasture look, with lots of flowers, or mow to 2½ to 3″ for a manicured lawn appearance. To increase the number of flowers, just mix in some of their Alternative Lawn Wildflower Blend. Like any other type of seed, this product should be planted into prepared soil. Sowing over existing lawn rarely works, as thatch prevents the seeds from coming in direct contact with soil.

Take a tablespoon of this after your workout to stabilize blood sugar levels instantly!
Thanks again, amazing honeybee, science has proven yet another brilliant benefit from your sweet nectar! This time you can delve into your sweet craving post workout and know you are doing your body good.
During a high intensity workout, your liver pours glucose into your bloodstream for energy. This can cause a spike in blood sugar levels post work out and can be very dangerous especially in people who have diabetes. Taking a tablespoon of honey after exercise will help you refuel as well as avoid the effects of hypoglycemia by maintaining blood glucose more effectively than other sugars.
